In a significant move toward holistic community development, the Indian Society for Applied Research & Development (ISARD) organized a comprehensive one-day Health Camp at its Programme Office under the EmpowerPath Project, supported by SOCOMAC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The camp, held on April 4, aimed to raise health awareness, provide essential medical services, and promote preventive healthcare practices among ISARD employees, beneficiaries, high-risk groups, and members of the local community.
A wide array of health services was provided during the event, including general health check-ups (blood pressure, blood sugar, and BMI), eye and dental screenings, and consultations with both general physicians and specialists. Participants were also given basic medicines and health supplements to support their ongoing care.
"My male relatives mocked me, saying, 'How can a woman drive an e-rickshaw?' But today, I earn 500 to 700 rupees (S$8 to S$11) a day, which helps me feed my family and educate my children."
In addition to medical services, the camp featured informative sessions on nutrition, personal hygiene, and the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases, equipping attendees with the knowledge to maintain healthier lifestyles.
Their entry into these fields is aided by government schemes and non-governmental organisations that provide free or subsidised training, with the aim of improving women's workforce participation.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, encourage safe health practices, and foster community engagement—particularly among High-Risk Groups (HRGs).

Health educators and peer counsellors led interactive awareness sessions focusing on HIV prevention, testing, and treatment. In an effort to connect with the local community, artists and residents performed skits, folk songs, and dances that carried powerful messages around reducing HIV stigma, promoting condom use, and highlighting the importance of regular health checkups.
Informational materials, including pamphlets, brochures, and leaflets on HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, were distributed throughout the event. A mobile HIV Testing and Counselling unit provided free on-site testing services, accompanied by confidential pre- and post-test counselling. Interactive booths also offered free condoms and lubricants to promote safe sexual practices.
This initiative reflects ISARD’s ongoing commitment to public health outreach. With sustained support from DSACS, the organization plans to replicate this model in other underserved communities across Delhi to expand its reach and impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Indian Society for Applied Research and Development (ISARD) organized a Community-Based Screening (CBS) and Winter Kit Distribution event on February 8, 2022, with support from GOONJ, a renowned NGO known for its humanitarian efforts.
Prior to the event, GOONJ conducted a training session for all ISARD employees, emphasizing its core values—particularly the concept of "Dignity for Work." The training underscored the importance of empathy, respect for the underprivileged, and careful handling of their needs and belongings while distributing aid.
During the event, CBS testing was carried out for female sex workers (FSWs) to help identify and address health issues in the community. Alongside this vital healthcare service, winter kits provided by GOONJ were distributed to the beneficiaries to help them cope with the harsh weather conditions.
Beneficiary details—including name, Aadhaar number, and mobile number—were documented in a record register to ensure transparency and accountability. GOONJ staff were also present at the event, meeting with the recipients and witnessing the impact of their contribution firsthand
The Indian Society for Applied Research and Development (ISARD) successfully organized a COVID-19 vaccination camp on November 7, 2021, at its premises. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the medical team from the Dwarka Sector 14 dispensary.
During the camp, the first dose, second dose, and booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered to eligible beneficiaries. The initiative was aimed at making vaccination more accessible, especially for individuals who faced difficulties in reaching vaccination centers due to a lack of education or awareness.
The camp witnessed active participation from local residents of Dwarka Sectors 14, 15, 16, and Kakrola Village. By bringing healthcare directly to the community, the camp ensured that many people who had previously missed their doses were finally able to get vaccinated in a safe and supportive environment.
All necessary COVID-19 protocols and government health guidelines were strictly followed during the camp, ensuring the safety of both the medical team and the beneficiaries.

In an effort to support vulnerable communities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Institute of Social Advocacy for Rural Development (ISARD), in collaboration with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA), South-West District, organized a relief material distribution drive on October 27, 2020. The initiative focused on providing essential dry rations—including rice, wheat, and gram—to poor, needy individuals and High-Risk Groups (HRGs).
This humanitarian effort aimed to alleviate the hardship faced by marginalized communities during the pandemic and reinforce the importance of mutual support in times of crisis.
In addition to distributing relief materials, ISARD has been actively facilitating COVID-19 awareness and health access in the community. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, observed globally on February 4, a Health Awareness and Check-up Camp was organized at BVK in collaboration with RML Hospital and ISARD NGO. The aim was to raise awareness about cancer, promote early detection, and emphasize the importance of timely treatment.
World Cancer Day is an international initiative that unites the world in the fight against cancer by promoting education, encouraging preventive measures, and supporting those affected. Multiple awareness drives and community outreach programmes are held worldwide on this day to show solidarity with cancer patients and survivors.
At the event, the Head of the Department of Oncology from RML Hospital, along with a team of doctors, addressed community members and ISARD staff. They highlighted the importance of regular health check-ups, physical activity, and healthy dietary practices in reducing the risk of cancer, especially breast cancer. “If any lump or unusual change in the body is noticed—whether painful or not—it is crucial to consult a medical professional without delay,” advised one of the doctors.
During the programme, the President of ISARD voiced concern over the lack of accessible mammography screening facilities for underprivileged women. He urged the government to provide community-level cancer screening services in partnership with local NGOs active in the health sector.
TThe camp witnessed a large turnout of men and women from the community. Participants were informed about various types of cancer, early warning signs, and the importance of early detection. Free screenings and consultations were also provided. Several ISARD health workers, teachers, and staff availed themselves of this opportunity.
The community responded positively and expressed gratitude for organizing the free camp, which empowered them with knowledge and access to essential health services.
On the occasion of World Water Day 2011, the Indian Society for Applied Research and Development (ISARD), in collaboration with Development Alternatives (DA) and with the support of SODIS Eawag, organized a series of awareness programs across slum areas in East Delhi including Sanjay Amar Colony, Kalyanpuri (Block 18), and Trilokpuri (Blocks 32/33).
Participants included men, women, and school-going children, all of whom actively engaged with the educational components of the event.
The organizers from ISARD and Development Alternatives also took the opportunity to interact directly with the public, explaining the science and benefits of the SODIS technique, and answering questions from attendees. The event successfully reinforced the message that safe drinking water is not only a health necessity but also achievable through simple and low-cost methods.
