ISARD (an organization working on basic education for disadvantaged communities) to bridge the educational gap. ISARD’s motto, “Literacy for all,” reflects its commitment to ensuring that every child has access to education, especially those who face barriers such as dropping out of school, working to support their families, or being unable to attend school due to household responsibilities. The organization focuses on non-formal education programs, establishing community education centers, and offering remedial education to help bring children back into formal schooling.
The strategies employed by ISARD include:
Awareness campaigns to educate communities about the importance of education.
Surveys and studies to understand the specific needs of out-of-school children.
Counseling to guide families and children about the benefits of education.
Establishment of Remedial Education Centres to help children catch up and reintegrate into formal schooling.
The organization’s work is focused on addressing the educational disparities in marginalized groups, especially girls, and ensuring that more children receive the education they deserve.
Back to School Programme
The Back to School Programme promoted by ISARD aims to support various groups of individuals who have faced barriers to education. The key components of the programme include:
1.For Young Dropouts: The programme facilitates their re-admission into the National Open School (NOS)programme. This will allow young people who have previously dropped out of school to continue their education at their own pace and complete their schooling.
2. For School-Age Children: The programme is also aligned with the goals of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), ensuring that all children of school-going age are enrolled and actively participating in school. The initiative strives to bridge gaps in education, providing inclusive and equitable learning opportunities.
3. For Illiterate Individuals: ISARD offers a Peer Teaching approach to provide basic functional literacy. This approach leverages peer-to-peer support, where individuals with minimal literacy skills can learn essential reading and writing skills. This will also be linked to the Adult Education Programme to further enhance their learning opportunities.
